Holiday and Tourist information for Noosa

Noosa leads the Sunshine Coast when it comes to having the best tourist attractions in the area. In Queensland there are very few places that have held their popularity as a top tourist destination for as long as Noosa has. The reasons behind this are many, but the natural attributes that Nooasa is famous for are some of the most important. The beach at Noosa is hidden behind Noosa Heads which gives it some protection from the south east winds that prevail along this section of coast. The headland itself is responsible for helping to create the special breaks that makes Noosa such a popular surfing destination. Its reputation is further enhanced when large swells come in from the east and then top surfers congregate here from hundreds of miles around. The beach is often eroded when these storm swells occur but the Noosa Shire Council, always dredges new sand back onto the main beach area. The main beach itself is "the" place to be seen in the Sunshine Coast. On any day, it will be covered with bronzed and buffed surfers and bikini babes soaking up the sun. The beach itself is lined by some of the best Noosa accommodation and a number of chic restaurants and cafes. it is a fantastic place for lunch while overlooking the action on the beach.

There is a ferry service that runs upstream to Noosaville and the marina at Tewantin and private boats are always using this waterway for fishing, waterskiing, canoeing and kayaking. On the south side is the Noosa National Park which includes Noosa Heads and a number of small quiet beaches all located within the National Park. The Noosa hinterland is a beautiful region. Tall eucalypt forests dominate the region and the Maleny/Montville region is a great place to take the kids for a day out and a family picnic. At Eumundi, which is only a short drive west from Noosa, are one of the most popular craft and agricultural markets in the country.
